MEMORIAL DAY

This is Memorial Day weekend the official kick off for summer and a time to remember those that have given there life's for our country. We want to thank all veteran's for their service.

I’m taking another 4 day weekend off from work and hoping for some good weather. Friday was cloudy and damp so we didn’t do much,we did get to have a camp fire on the deck in the evening.

Saturday up early and it still cloudy,we were tired of sitting inside so we loaded Annie up and drove up to Weston Bend State Park. The park sits on the Missouri River and is on the Lewis and Clark trail. Nice camp ground and lots of trails to walk.

 

The water you see thru the trees is the river. We took a trail that runs along the river bluff for about 2 miles.

After stopping for lunch we drove a about 10 miles north to Lewis and Clark state park. Another nice park it is on a Oxbow Lake http://www.mbgnet.net/fresh/lakes/oxbow.htm the parks are full of campers and people enjoying the holiday weekend.

Angela and I sure miss being able to go camping and enjoying the out door life,after all we live with in a hour or two of about five state parks. Not sure we can make it another year or two to retire and start camping again we may have to do something about that.

Today we are going to smoke some baby back rib’s and go over to the nursing home and see mom.

COLOR  IS GOOD

 

Yesterday I went to the doctor
For my yearly physical.
My blood pressure was high.
My cholesterol was high.
I'd gained some weight,
and I didn't feel so hot.
My doctor said eating right
doesn't have to be complicated and
it would solve my physical problems.
He said:
Just think in colors.
Fill your plate with bright colors.
Try some greens, oranges, reds,
maybe something yellow, etc.
and eat an entire bowl of
bright colors.

 

 

 

And Sure Enough,
I Felt Better Immediately!!
I never knew eating right could be so easy!!

OUT OF THE HOUSE

It has rained off and on all week nothing but cloud’s . Saturday the sun finally showed it self and we had to get out of the house.

 

We started off by going to Parkville to see what they had in there little city market. There wasn’t much going on because it’s still early in the growing season. We did fine some nice looking tomatoes for a B.L.T. After that we made a stop at the nursing home to help mom with eating her lunch and a little visit.

Then we headed for downtown Kansas City,MO they were having a art show in a area called the Power and Light District,it’s an area that has a lot of restaurant's and bars.

There was a band playing the blues and a lot of people walking around looking at the art in the tents. There was some real nice stuff with high price tags. This was not your ordinary craft show that we are use to,some of it was six and seven thousand dollars. These people travel around the country to art shows and I was wondering how many of these high dollar pieces can they be selling. 

The weather was perfect with a little breeze blowing. Annie and I found some shade and I found something cold to drink, at $5 a piece I was wondering what  I was thinking after buying it,  but it was nice just listening to the band and people watching and of course Annie was a hit she thinks everybody came to see her.   

Kansas City is the home town of Sprint and this is the Sprint Center where they have a lot of concerts and events.

We have never had Sushi and not sure we want to but I guess if you get a fish or person drunk enough they will do or eat anything. 

  

As far as I know the world did not come to a end so I guess I will be off to work at the church.

IS WINTER BACK?

The picture tells it all about our pass week..

We went from 80’s and 90’s sun and a/c to 40’s and 50’s and the furnace back on. Annie decided to just go back to bed and wait for summer to come back,what's happen to our weather across the country? It has been so weird,one day you wearing shorts and sitting outside and the next you have a coat on.

Anyway we have done very little this week to speak of so we will just say…..

After work we went to a Cinco de Mayo party down the road in the little town of Parkville,MO. We both got the sombrero’s and party favors. They has $2.00 beer and $2.00 taco’s. They had this group playing and not sure what you call it but they were good to listen to. If someone can tell me what they are playing I will store it in my pea brain. We both had a good time.   

Friday

We were up early and headed to a county park for a walk and I took my bike that I have not rode since last fall.We had Annie with us so I took her leash and started peddling to see if she would run along side me with out crossing in front and making me go flying,she loved it and was off and running. 

Annie found some water and you could not hold her back,she was having so much fun sticking her head under the water and chasing a stick.

Saturday

Up early again to drive over to Liberty,MO to surprise my daughter Jessica at her work,it was her birthday she turned 34. That doesn't seam possible.

For dinner we cooked up a mess of crappie,fried potato and salad and a couple of cold ones. That is what I call a summer meal.

Sunday

I worked in the morning then went to my sister’s house to have mother’s day with my mom. It was good for her to get out of the nursing home and spend time with her sitting outside and eating bar-b-que she said she was having a good time.

Field Trip

 Friday morning we took these two on a field trip. Annie in the back seat and Max rides in the back of the truck in his kennel,that’s because he has been know to get car sick.

They were due for there yearly check up and shots. We decided to drive 50 miles north to Savannah Missouri  to Angels Vet Express http://www.mshoogys.com/ please take a look at this web site and help if you can.

This place is in a rural area and was worth the drive to see.  

We got there check up,pedicure, shots and a year supply of heart worm meds for $200 which is about half the price of the Vet in the city.Angels is a nonprofit service with the donation and money they make  goes to there no kill shelter M’Shoogy’s .  (see web site) They are doing good work for the animals.

Saturday we were up early and went out for breakfast and then over to see mom for a few hours at the nursing home. On the way home Angela wanted to stop and get her tomato and pepper plants for her garden.

Notice the orange construction fence,that’s to keep the furry kids out. We finished out the day with a steak on the grill and a camp fire.

Sunday I took another day off from work,I know its starting to be a habit but hey its been a long winter.

It was a all proceeds benefit for Northland Animal Welfare Society (NAWS),a non-profit organization committed to build a future for homeless and abused animals.

They had booth’s set up with all kinds of pet things.Of course Snoopy was there.

This dog was fun to watch and the tricks were pretty amazing .They also had a 5k run and a 1 mile dog walk with prizes,live music.

 

 

 

Annie said she had a dog-gone good time!!
