Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Cabernet in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!"

A STEP BACK IN TIME

I took a long holiday weekend off from my job at the church.

Five days off feels pretty good got a few things done around the house I have been putting off. I’m not real into yard work but love people who have a nice yard.May be that's why we will love full timing when the grass gets to high it’s time to move..

Saturday we were up early thought we would head up to James Port Missouri.http://www.jamesportmo.com/ It’s a  Amish community about 1.5 hours north of Kansas City.

We had a good lunch and visit before we headed back to KC.

Sunday was spent outside smoking a ham, my son Blake came over and spent the day.Angela made some great side dishes to go with the ham.

It was good to spend the day with Blake he has been working long hours and does not have much time to spend with the old folks.

Annie loves when her brother comes over to play.

Monday will be spent cleaning the lab hair out of the truck I have been putting it off to long now.

Then its back to work Tuesday YUK!!

MOMS DAY

Sunday starts a new week for me. Have to be to work at the church at 6AM to get things ready for the three services.

Yesterday was a big church day because it was Mother’s Day.I just sit around and visit with folks and make sure things are running smooth. Not a bad gig for a paying job.

After church (work) we head over to my sisters to see my 85 year old mother it was great to see mom. She has Alzheimer’s so she has good days and bad days. Its hard to watch mom like that, she was always the rock in the family and took care of everything.

After we had a nice visit we went to find a restaurant that wasn't lined out the door. Thought we would drive by a Cracker Barrel Angela said there would be no way we would get in there.

So being a male I had to drive by and see. There was no line and the parking lot about 3/4 full got right in and got a table. Had a great meal then headed home to watch a little TV before bed.

300000 MEALS

For those of you that don’t know I work for a large United Methodist Church as a Facilities Manager.

This past weekend we had a Faith in Action Weekend.

We had volunteer’s doing projects  all over the area like landscaping around the church and ten acre of land we own. Also there was helping widows and shut-ins with things around there homes, helping with a Habitat house build and several other things.

But the biggest  project was packing meals for Haiti.

We teamed up with a organization called  Numana Saving the Starving http://www.numanainc.com/index.cfm and the Salvation army .
