Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Cabernet in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!"

LOST MY MARBLE’S

Our life is so exciting you can tell by the look on our grand daughter  Savannah’s face Max and Annie as they watch a movie.

002

My weekend started  out with going and checking out two nursing homes for my mother, her Alzheimer’s is progressing and is about stage 3. So where not sure how long we can keep her at home with my brother and sister in law.

Our twin 8 year old grandkids came over Friday to spend the weekend. Two kids and three dogs can sure change the Pease and quit around the house,it’s like having five kids.

I spend a lot of time in the garage checking the oil and air in truck, and making sure the beer stays cold in the refrigerator.

Saturday we took them on a little road trip to Bonner Springs,Ks to Moon Marble Company.

014

That's right they make marbles  http://www.moonmarble.com.

It’s gotten so boring that we went to watch them make marbles. We watched a guy make a $50 dollar marble, sure would hate to loose that in a marble game.

006

Yes they even have a Museum in the restroom.I don’t usually take a camera into the bathroom with me but hey it was a museum.

 007

This is some of the things on wall in the small restroom. I was so amazed I forgot why I was in there.

When you leave you can sign you name on the wall outside

MIDWEST MELTING POT

This week has been so hot here I think were melting  with heat index around 110. The weather person says we have a cold front coming in for Sunday temps to be in the mid 80’s I guess you can call that a cold front.

This has been a slow week around here nothing but going to work and staying inside as much as possible.

I did manage to get the lawn cut Friday morning before it heated up. Then we did some more dreaded painting on a bedroom. At this rate I think it will take me about a year to get the house painted.

Tomorrow Sunday is back to work.

Have a good week..

SLOW AND HOT

This week has been another slow and HOT week here in west Missouri.

We have been under a heat alert most of the week and about all you want to do is stay in the a/c.

We had a big scare Wednesday night when Lady the 10 year old dog was out on the deck and went down in her back legs and could not get up. She weights about 100 lbs. I picked her up in the back and got her to stand but she went back down.

Lady has had arthritis for the last couple years and has a hard time getting up off the floor.Mentally she is sharp but her back legs are worn out and she’s over weight.

She loved to ride on our golf cart..

After I couldn't get her up and watching her drag her self to get in the door we thought it was her time to go to doggy heaven. I had to get a buddy next door to help get her in my truck so we could go to the Animal Emergency Center.

It was a very sad ride there as we thought we were going to put her to sleep so Angela was in the back seat with her saying her good byes. We got to the emergency vet and got her carried in and laid on the floor. The doctor came in and we told him the story and told him we thought it was her time. Her looked her over and said he would like to give her a shot of Dexamethasone and some other meds and she how she did in a few days. If that didn't work bring her back and he would put her down for free.

So we loaded her back up and paid the $182 and back home we went. I know Angela and I was glad she was coming back home but we knew  we would be back in a day or so. We couldn't watch her lay and suffer and wet her self.

Back home we got her comfortable on the floor and we sat in the kitchen and talked about how long we would let her suffer. About a half hour later here she came walking into the kitchen  and we sat and just looked at each other and was shocked. So far she is doing good she will have to be on her meds for the rest of her life.

Friday we worked around the house I fixed a window sill where the dogs over the years had scratched up from barking at anybody that walked by. I also hung some new mini blinds.

Saturday was time to start painting o boy I hate painting.

We have a lot of work to do to get the house ready to sale and I have time to start on it early and not be in a rush at the last minute.

Did I mention how much I hate to paint…..

Sunday back to work at the church…

GETTING READY

My week was pretty slow at work not much to report.

Friday my day off we had to go to the church and have our picture taken one with of both of us for the church directory and one of me for the staff part of the directory.

That was the first time we had our picture taken by a professional photographer.

Saturday we hauled a pickup load of stuff down to the thrift store. We are cleaning out the house of 25 years of stuff we don’t need. I have a lot of work to do to get the house ready for sale. We also took a load over to the daughter’s house she has just moved into.

It feels good to start working the plan and preparing for the day we can hit the road.

Sunday its back to work day,I enjoy the job and the people I get to work with and the laid back atmosphere of the church. Not a bad gig for a pre retirement job and good benefits, free health insurance and about four weeks vacation and the pay’s not bad.

I don’t have any picture’s but it seems like everybody is digging into there archive’s so here is some of Annie,Lady and Mad Max.

OUR 4th OF JULY WEEKEND

Friday we spent the morning I doing the yard work and Angela doing cleaning work.

Then it was time for shopping first it was Wal Mart for a seal a meal.

We had gunny sack full of sweet corn to shuck and seal .We also thought the seal a meal would come in handy when we start full timing.

Then it was off to the grocery store and there we found some meat on sale and then back home to seal the meat up.

After all the sealing was done we realized our freezer in the kitchen was not big enough to hold all the corn and meat.

Off to Lowes we go to buy a small freezer we think and hope it will fit in the 5th wheel we will buy.

After all shucking and meat cutting and sealing it was time for Happy Hour.

Saturday it was up early to go ride are new bikes.

We have two Turtle Doves that live in our yard and one stayed still long enough to get a picture..

012

After the bike ride we just hung around the house and chilled in the a/c it was a hot day.

Sunday it was up a 5am to go to work at the church.Yes I had to work on the 4th of July. Church goes on and the lord works seven days a week.

They had a picnic with hot dogs and all the fixings and two water slides for the kids.

After work we went next door for a little pool party .

003

004

When it got dark enough for fire works the rain came and kind of put an end to that .

Monday I got the day off and when I got up it was cloudy and raining so it looks like a TV and computer day.

Hope everyone had a fun and safe 4th.
