I took a long holiday weekend off from my job at the church.
Five days off feels pretty good got a few things done around the house I have been putting off. I’m not real into yard work but love people who have a nice yard.May be that's why we will love full timing when the grass gets to high it’s time to move..
Saturday we were up early thought we would head up to James Port Missouri.http://www.jamesportmo.com/ It’s a Amish community about 1.5 hours north of Kansas City.

Horse and buggies parked out back of the hardware store.
Even parked in the front yard..
A group played outside of a store in the shade..
The town is all about stores like this..
There was a lot of horse traffic guess Saturday is big day to come to town and get supplies..
Would have been a better picture without the stop sign!!!
Annie and I waiting for Angela while she was inside looking around. The lady told her to leave the dog outside. So Annie said she would wait outside with me..
After our visit in James port we headed back toward KC about 30 min. and made a stop at Lake Viking, MO http://www.lakevikingmo.com/Details.htm to see some friends of ours. They had just bought a lot there and then rented a RV lot for $380 a year plus utilities included.
We had a good lunch and visit before we headed back to KC.
Sunday was spent outside smoking a ham, my son Blake came over and spent the day.Angela made some great side dishes to go with the ham.
It was good to spend the day with Blake he has been working long hours and does not have much time to spend with the old folks.
Annie loves when her brother comes over to play.
Monday will be spent cleaning the lab hair out of the truck I have been putting it off to long now.
Then its back to work Tuesday YUK!!
ONE DAY CLOSER TO THE DREAM

Loved the photos of the Amish lifestyle...We should all live life in the slower lane. We have an Amish area in Central Illinois and love to visit....Keep the dream alive!!!
Enjoyed your tour of the Amish community. We always enjoy touring their towns. Sounds like you had a great weekend. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Great Amish tour! Thanks for the great pics. We plan to attend the Escapade in Indiana in Sept. and we want to explore the Amish in that area while we're there. Lots of interesting history there.
So glad you all had a great weekend.
