Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Cabernet in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!"

My week was pretty slow at work not much to report.

Friday my day off we had to go to the church and have our picture taken one with of both of us for the church directory and one of me for the staff part of the directory.

That was the first time we had our picture taken by a professional photographer.

Saturday we hauled a pickup load of stuff down to the thrift store. We are cleaning out the house of 25 years of stuff we don’t need. I have a lot of work to do to get the house ready for sale. We also took a load over to the daughter’s house she has just moved into.

It feels good to start working the plan and preparing for the day we can hit the road.

Sunday its back to work day,I enjoy the job and the people I get to work with and the laid back atmosphere of the church. Not a bad gig for a pre retirement job and good benefits, free health insurance and about four weeks vacation and the pay’s not bad.

I don’t have any picture’s but it seems like everybody is digging into there archive’s so here is some of Annie,Lady and Mad Max.

Lady and me on our golf cart.(Sorry about no shirt)

Lady getting ready for a boat ride.

Our clown Mad Max

He likes to swim and stay dry.

Annie 4 weeks old.

Then she started growing  and growing.

Now 2 1/2 years later and 85 pounds.

Doesn't it feel really good to start "getting ready" to leave??? Half the fun of going ANYWHERE is the preparation..I would LOVE to strip this place down to the bare bones...Hey, I would be glad just to wander in the Hiker for a year WITHOUT selling the house. We could rent it out to people who LOVE trains and train horns...And we could get some much needed sleep!!

look's like you guys are doing what we are doing, Donna started on the closet's which really need to be emptied, We both have so much stuff that we never wear, Sam even had uniform shirts hung up from his last two police jobs, he retired from the first in 1986 and then the second in 2007,he also had a white tux jacket that was worn once, it is all going to either Goodwill or the church, The garage is going to be the worst, he will have to have a tool sale and clean out all the stuff our son doesn't want, he said he is taking one floor jack and two bottle jacks and one set of jack stands and a small tool box, that is it, Your baby picture's of Annie are so cute, Rigg's was like that and look at the hulk we ended up with, his head is a big as he was. Hope we can maybe meet some weekend in Danville at either of the campgorunds there before it gets cold, The Cando is a CampUSA club if your a member with 50% off days, other one on the other side of the highway is a Good Sam Park, Sam and Adam have camped there and he said it is really nice.Danville is just about the halfway point for both of us on I-70. Let us know what you think.we'd like to meet you olks and both of the parks are dog friedly. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna.

I'm getting bad flashbacks from the cleaning and purging days. Once you get started getting rid of stuff, it starts taking a life of it's own. Closets and cabinets start looking like they exploded. Hide the pooches so they don't get buried in stuff! Love the puppy pic!

The pic of Mad Max is hilarious. Love all your pups, they sure are cute. You guys are too, of course! HaHa

Good job on the cleaning out and clearing out of all the stuff you won't be needing. Have fun!

Wow your post sure brings back memories of a year ago. I'm with Nellie...flashback time! This is the part that really makes it "real" and it gets so exciting each time you purge something. You are on your way to achieving your dream...keep your eyes on the goal. :)

Love the puppy pics..its hard to believe they were ever that small. We have a Golden Retriever that is around 80 pounds named Cody.

Take care!

I did some purging this spring, but lately all of my time has bee spent painting. I will be doing my first flea market day at the end of the month and have to go thu the boxes of stuff I moved to the garage for that purpose.

Not looking forward to it, but it is a start.

One thing you will notice is a change in your buying habits. When you start getting rid of stuff, you start asking yourself if you really want or need something new.

You'll feel relieved when all the purging is done! Good luck, and keep your eye on the prize. :)
