Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Cabernet in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!"

Help Wanted

We are starting our 3rd month living fulltime at the Driveway RV Park.

House lookers have really really really slowed down and we have not had one for about two weeks. Bummer

I have a question maybe some of you brave readers can help with. We are looking to get a new cell phone from Verizon.

I have not had to cell phone shop for years because the church I work for provides my cell phone. So if some of you could tell me what works for you for phone and internet and what you would suggest on equipment to get. I know everybody has a different thought on this and not everyone will agree. That’s why I want to hear all.

We are not going to have satellite TV when we first start, we our not sure how much we will watch it so were going to see how that goes.

So any help you can give us would be great.. mifi, wifi ,sifi what does all that mean????

The Secret Service issued new rules of conduct for agents Friday.

They can no longer get drunk, procure hookers or go to strip bars.

The rules say that from now on, if agents feel the need to engage in such behavior, they can run for public office like everyone else.

We have a Verizon Mifi and I have a Droid Razr Max smart phone. We find the smart phones invaluable for traveling. It's hard to explain just how great smart phones are until you actually use one, but trust me...they are great for travelers. Once we got a smart phone we wondered how we ever lived without it. I had a Droid X before my recent upgrade. We're "Android" fans, verses iPhone....

I love my Verizon service. AND I really like my Motorola Droid RAZOR! As of now, I have a Verizon MIFI card that we use to access the internet.

I just had a thought and called Verizon. They said that I can use my Razor act as a modem in place of my MIFI card!

If you call Verizon or visit a Verizon store they can give you tons of information. They are extremely helpful....very eager to please and they speak english.

Guess I can't help much since I'm a Sprint dumb phone user with an ordinary air card. :)

I use Verizon and have a Samsung Stratosphere which was on sale, buy one, get one free. It is my first smart phone and I am very pleased with it and the service provided by Verizon. It has the ability to be a hotspot for internet access but I don't use it because wherever I go now I can always find free internet access. And I really don't have an issue beings without the internet for a period of time. I can always catch up when I find another free access...

We have iphones and love them, but that's because both of us use Mac computers. We have a Verizon Mi-fi card and are VERY happy with it. Mi-fi is a little box about the size of a credit card..it's wireless, it was very easy to set up. The signal strength has been excellent. The battery seems to have a short life to it, however. We use to have a big clunky wireless Cradlepoint router on board and like our little mifi alot better. Some people have trouble with the mi-fi's, but it depends on where you are. Sometimes the signal gets dropped but we can get right back on. Verizon seems to have much better coverage than any other company and we've been from the east coast to the west coast. If you go out into the boonies into remote areas, of course you are probably going to have more connectivity problems or not have any at all. Many times the Verizon mi-fi has worked just fine, and we've had ZERO At & T signals for our phones.

PS. We use our smartphones (iphones) for EVERYTHING as Karen said. We have lots of apps on our phones that help us navigate, find restaurants, and guide us with traffic info and campgrounds and rest stops and.....you get the idea. :-)

I'm an iPhone fan myself. It's simple, yet powerful and has all the Apps one could ever hope for.

The Personal Hotspot feature is nice to as it allows for up to 5 devices to connect through the iPhone and get a nice, fast Internet connection.

I wish I could help, but we are in the same situation as you are. Hope you will do a follow-up blog on what you find out.

Another Android Fan here. Jim has a Droid X and I have a Vortex. When I upgrade this summer I am going with the Droid Razr. Also use the Verizon Mifi. If you can get a good Verizon signal, it works like a dream.

We use Millenicom for our internet uses. they offer attractive packages with no contracts. We also have a portable router (cradlepoint CTR35) that our cellular modem plugs into. For when we are in remote areas we have a Wilson Cell Booster that is just awesome. I suggest looking at Technomadia's website (www.technomadia.com). Chris and Cherie are most helpful.

I use Straight Talk from Walmart. It is run by Verizon but is much cheaper. With tx it is $50. monthly and is all unlimited min. I have mifi and works everywhere but at my house in Tucson. No one can figure out the problem. I have been camping in the middle of the desert and get great service. go figure.

I have the Droid Bionic from Verizon and love it! It also has the wi-fi feature allowing up to 5 devices to get on the internet.
Be Careful though with Verizon! They may want to charge you another $30 per month for the Wi-Fi and Teather feature.
There is a program (app) you can install on your computer and smartphone that gets around the Verizon extra charge and still allows you to Teather or use the Wi-Fi feature. It's called PDA Net and can be downloaded from here: http://www.junefabrics.com/ It really works great!
Be sure you get a "4GLTE" phone and Verizon will allow you 4GB per month instead of the standard 2GB for the same monthly price.

I have the Droid Bionic 4GLTE smart phone and it works great from Verizon.
You can teather it to your computer or use the wi-fi to connect to the internet. Verizon will say that doing so will cost an additional $30 per month. Not so if you go here: http://www.junefabrics.com/ and download and install PDAnet on your computer and smartphone. It works great and NO additional charges from Verizon.
Make sure you get the 4GLTE phone. This way you will get 4GB of data per month instead of the 2GB allowed for the 3GB phones.

I've had verizon broadband for nearly 15 years and I know I was "ahead" in the full-time travel game for a long time (before wifi really existed). I know my plan is a bit outdated now...what's this "mi-fi"?

Both a Verizon smartphone and mifi so some things we like. We got the droid 3 because it has a slide out keyboard. I think all of the phones are now dual core processors but make sure. For the mifi hotspot we wish we had one that we could attach an antenna to. As far as 4g or 3g when you are travelling you will get 3g most of the time.

Hope this helps
